Whole State Bodywork
Working on the whole state
Whole State Bodywork pulls together technique from Thai massage, breathwork, and trigger point therapy to create deep release in both mind and body (which make up the "whole state").
My philosophy and personal experience is that when we free up our physical body, we also free up pathways for emotional release and enhanced everyday well-being. Freedom of motion is often the first thing we feel after bodywork, but more subtly we might notice improvements in everyday happiness and capacity to handle stress.

Personalized work that treats root causes, not symptoms
My bodywork is tailored to your needs, to create the most efficient results. I don't do generic routines, because I want you to have better than generic results.

Additionally, I look to understand the root cause of the pain or tension you have. The body is deeply interconnected, so pain is not always solved by treating the painful area, but rather by finding and treating the cause somewhere else in the body.

A common example is lower back pain: although the pain exists in the lower back, it is often caused by tight hips in the front. Tight hip flexors pull the pelvis into forward tilt, which exaggerates the lower back curve and causes unnecessary back strain.
What happens in a session?
Exact session flow varies, but commonly consists of 3 parts:

1. Discover tension
Before we can release tension, we have to find where it is.
I'll ask you where your tight spots are as a starting point. Don't worry if you aren't sure, I'll find them over the course of the treatment.

2. Find & treat possible causes
Once the tension is found, we figure out how to release it.

I'll gently look to understand the possible causes for the tension, and work with you to release them.
Some releases work best with your participation, so it helps if you can stay awake for this.

But I know how relaxing deep work can be, so no worries if you fall asleep.

3. Comparison and next steps
Finally, once treatment is done, we'll look to re-test your areas where you had tension.

Chronic pain isn't instantly solved, but people generally can already see better range of motion, and often report feeling mentally more at ease.

If you have interest and we have time, I will also suggest additional exercises for relief at home.
